SOCCER CAREER In 2009 in 2009, the Chicago Illinois Red Stars of the new Women's Professional Soccer WPS league drafted Rapinoe. She played there until late 2010, when the team was disbanded. Rapinoe's stint with The Philadelphia Pennsylvania Independence was then transferred into Boca Raton Florida. She scored two goals over just eight games to help lead the magicJack to a third-place finish during the season. The magicJack was disbanded in the latter half of 2011, and then the WPS was dissolved in early 2012. Rapinoe played for a short time with Sydney Football Club FC (Australian W-League) in 2011 before returning in the United States. The next time she played was with in the Seattle Washington Sounders Women now known as the Sound FC. Rapinoe's 2013 season was spent doing soccer with France. The Seattle Reign FC - now OL Reign - of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL, which was formed when the WPS was disbanded, and later became her team. The two goals scored by Rapinoe were part of the 4-3 United States victory against Australia in the Olympics of 2020 in Tokyo. Japan, however, was delayed to 2021, until the COVID-19 epidemic was over.
